Its eclectic mix of musical choices made it the perfect soundtrack to clean your house to, or get to that meticulous thing you were waiting to do when you get blazed...

Chief didn't mean to come off so aloof.. I'm workin on that. Trust. Beginning my new blitzkrieg of vaulted and new material is the release of The Lost Weeks.
The Lost Weeks are the recordings from Week 15-30 with a couple cool surprises and more shenanigans not unlike those rung in by funny man Anwar Pollydor aka Bwameeks.

Free Masonry Sucks!..

The OrderVision (NRO Production leg) and I had the pleasure of assisting and documenting a long time friend, brother and comrade Aseer The Duke Of Tiers.
Aside from making the original collage that became the cover art for The Breaking (aint it nice tho?) Aseer is an erudite lecturer specializing in metaphysics, the occult, and 2012 Ascension Protocol.
In this candid session The Duke shares valuable insight to those considering taking the oath... definitely for the learned and open minded.
Peep the teaser for his dvd lecture, "Free Masonry Sucks; An Interpretation..."
And visit AseerTheDukeOfTiers.com to purchase the full length DVD and browse the healthy catalog.

Oh..and this ni**a is ill widdit.. for those of you who aren't balancing the art and life game well.. peep gangsta.

We Are Making Plans...

and J. Howells Werthman is the man with the plan...

If you are not familiar with Nuclear Family then your hip-hop has lost its family ties. Aside from being the home base of such amazing groups as Junk Science and Iller Than Theirs, it is also the same camp that produces those good ole nukkie sounds that have made their way onto other notable albums dropped by acts such as Cool Calm Pete, The Project, and Loer Velocity to name a few. If you need a refresher course you can check the post on MC Killa produced by Snafu or the post on Scott Thorough.

Enter J. Howells Werthman. In his own words he "started off with the goal of making a ‘producer’ record, where one guy makes all the beats and then gets other guys to rap on the beats. Then he remembered that he kinda hates most ‘producer’ records."
I can GUARANTEE that you will not hate this record. No matter what the aim was, J. Howells quietly crafted one of the dopest compilations to drop recently on this indie hip-hop terrain. It requires no bogus cosign, no out of the ordinary sponsorship, nor some pretentious event where everything BUT the music is used to lure you out of $10 in attempts to "support the culture". It only asks you to listen... and do so for free.

Of course we can count on The Great Radio Belly once again for giving us this privilege of a free download. 17 Tracks of production bliss featuring rap juggernauts such as StarPower, Mercury and Cavalier (of course), M.C. K~Swift, SupaNova, King Guttah 1st, Gif, Iller Than Theirs, and Loer Velocity to name a few, not to mention a musical feature by the amazingly talented musicians from Javelin.

And the cover art is brilliant. Life sized cutouts of everyone on the record propped and poised in front of the wall explaining just what has occurred.. we made plans and we executed in rare form. Kudos. Peep my cutout shot, sporting the infamous Con-Everyone T from Cavwins.com/TME Studios. Album concept by Tone Tank, photos by Vito Fun.

DOWNLOAD THIS RECORD. Do this for free. Savor it. Recall what good music sounds like. Then pat yourself on the back, because the plan was easy.. make good music, service the people with something they can truly enjoy. Give thanks for producers like J. Howells Werthman.. this my friends is "doing it for the culture"

Love ya Jesse, well done indeed.

Cavwins Weekly Freestyles and...

the madness behind it...

Okay so.. truly. Anyone who listens to this, thank you. The support of genuine uninhibited shenanigans is appreciated. This mixtape is.. eh.. unique to say the least.. and according to some (many?) "dope".

Before explaining anything about this I have to say that before the bandwagonism I was genuinely inspired by Cali super mc, Crooked I, the dude is a beast and he was doing these like weekly freestyles/recordings and what not. I felt his attitude and diligence were/are much needed in these hip-hop climates of minimalist hoorah.

I started impulsive and impetuous and fortunately in the company of my comrade Mercury of the Dugout who enabled me to begin this impromptu catalog. With him and the help of DFW Producer alums Phes and Tavi, I had free reigns to record every week, au naturale and in the moment. Furthermore, studio gods such as M.C. K~Swift, HeneC aka Ohene Cornelius, King Guttah 1st, and Gif accompanied me on an inspired diary-like weekly recap.

Hosted by the hilarious Anwar Pollydor the mixtape also captures some real behind the scenes antics and rabblerousary.

MUCH MUCH LOVE to FludWatches, ScumLife and Radiobelly.com for showing this genuine display love and support!

DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE on FludWatches Blog or from The Great Radio Belly.

Tracks have recordings/freestyles on original Dugout tracks and music from Marvin Gaye, Rihanna, Mic Geronimo, The Knife, The Menahan Street Band, MIA, Raekwon, David Axelrod, The Beatnuts, The HoneyBees, Bounty Killa and Amerie, setting it apart from traditional mixtapes that often only approach remixes of contemporary (mostly hip-hop) tracks.

Check the short film "Beats, Rhymes, Shits and Giggles" directed by Shaka King that gives a peek into the recording process and Anwar's unforgettable interludes.

June Means Ya Sun Shines Bright

"Under a crescent moon 7th Of June...
I'll take you out your classroom and get my little niggas to jump ya boyfriend/ Have my way with his Metrocard/ he'll be a memory change his name to Nevamind..." - StarPower - EQ My Drum

June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. More than a midpoint, it also houses the day of the Summer Solstice, where we transition from the possibilities birthed in Spring to their manifestation.
Traditionally the knights of The Dugout and The New Rap Order have been uniquely timed with these events and in conjunction with Make Music New York we have also had great cause and opportunity to celebrate this amazing day with you all. This June will prove no different and fortunately, any of you will have more than one chance to manifest and celebrate with us.

With this gift of summer I am feeling that real Cavish urge to give away some hot shit. .. stay tuned.

The month is halfway through and we gonna finish it strong like it should do. I know yal like my properly spelled incorrect grammar.. don't stink up my Black English yal, tis holy speech.

Last couple of years the team helped spawn the inauguration of Make Music New York in NYC, in its first appearance in the USA. This festival birthed in Paris, turns NYC into a hotbed of hundreds of outdoor concerts in the streets, parks, and plazas of our great city. We set it off first with our legendary independent artist line up in FRONT of The Brooklyn Museum. The second year NRO General SupaNova and I spearheaded an uncanny series of concert events on June 21st at such renowned Brooklyn locations as Solomon's Porch, Albee Square Mall (hosted by Training Camp), Food4Thought (hosted by Liberation Family), SouthPaw, and a full BLOCK PARTY in Williamsburg by McCarren Park with our fam The Real Live Show, Sankofa, Caktuz..?13, NovaClutch, and Gif.
THIS YEAR Make Music New York June 21st you can catch us at a few amazing spots. As also listed in Time Out New York.

DUGOUT ReUnion + Queen + Tsi x You =
Big Time Awesome
A night of dynamic performances and body-rocking. Simple sophistication will rule the night as attendees are treated to performances by a few select artists from across the city, who happen to be among New York's (and in the case of HBO's "Brave New Voices" star, Queen GodIs, America's) most buzzworthy independent artists! We're talking poetry, singing, rapping, and live music at the highest level. DJ'd by Phes.

June 28th

Crash Mansion 7-9pm
199 Bowery $10

Come out on this Sunday after the solstice rings in and watch two of NYC's finest, WordSpit and Cavalier show you the proper way to end/or begin your week and summer. These two Herculean emcees have destroyed showcase stages across NYC and will take no casualties at Crash Mansion. This will be a memorable evening of performance, passion, and talent, and to top it off.. you don't have to spend your entire night waiting to see it. Show from 7-9pm. To top it off.. I think there may need to be some sort of amazing give away for those who support us at one of these 3 events. If you don't know how we get down on the give away tip.. educate yourself.

Thorough.. as in Scott Thorough

Have You Seen Scott Thorough?

I have not seen duke in a minute. Yeah I know I still say "B", but duke never left the set neither nahmean?

If you need catchings upsings, Scott Thorough is one of the brilliant producer minds in the Nuclear Family ensemble. Aside from co-producing and remixing a slew of bangers for the likes of Baje One, Cool Calm Pete and Core Rhythm he is also part of the pop duo The Boys and Girls Club.

He is a diversely talented and extremely creative producer/musician/songwriter/vocalist. I was fortunate enough to have him volunteer his talents to a remix of "On The Map" off The Breaking. If I were my own lable, (ahem) I'd release "On The Map" the real way on vinyl with a b-side.

enter my dream B-side,.. good lookin Scott...

The spirit of Brooklyn be with you...
